Cheap UK flights to the USA - attractions
The USA is enormous and various and each state and city has its own unique attitude and feel. Whether you're planning a trip across the States spanning several months, or just a weekend away, you can use our handy guides to pick up tips and get an idea of your destination.
Food
The US has a limitless range of cuisines – indigenous, immigrant, imitative and fusion. Food is uniformly cheaper than in the UK, and better value – the portions can be enormous. Budget travellers will also relish the chance to fill themselves up for a week at an all-you-can-eat buffet, which can be found almost everywhere. Some of the regional staples include Tex-Mex in the far south, Cajun in Louisiana, pretzels on the streets of New York and even reindeer in Alaska.
Climate
Being enormous, the USA has a wide spectrum of climates. While in California, Hawaii and Florida, winter is virtually non-existent, many of the northern states (not to mention Alaska) can be blanketed in snow from November until March, with temperatures staying well below freezing. Summers vary from the mild and unreliable (San Francisco) to the stiflingly humid (New Orleans) and the life-threateningly scorching (Death Valley).

Flights
Again, given the size of America, the price of flights depends very much on where you’re flying to. Off-peak trips to New York or Boston from the UK can be snapped up for not much more than £100 if you book in advance; flights to California or Hawaii are likely to be more in the region of £500.
