Cheap flights to Toronto

The biggest city in Canada, is amazingly safe and clean for a city of its size; it’s also great fun, with shopping and nightlife aplenty, and world-class arts – its theatre in particular is often spoken of in the same breath as London and New York. Things to see and do: - CN Tower – Toronto’s most recognisable landmark stands proud and tall over the city’s skyline; you can climb it too, and get fantastic views of the city. - Niagara Falls – just outside Toronto is Canada’s side of the astonishing Niagara Falls – it’s one of the country’s busiest tourist attractions but definitely worth the queues and the crowds. - Old Town of York – the most popular area for tourists in the city proper; a few hours exploring the Old Town’s historic streets and buildings is time well spent. - Yorkville – the happening area of Toronto is a mecca for anyone after boutiques, galleries and outdoor cafes – the University of Toronto is situated here too.

Getting there: Toronto Pearson International Airport is the busiest in Canada and is 17 miles northwest of the city. A number of car hire firms provide services at the airport; there are also taxis and public buses to ferry you to the city centre.

Location and weather: Toronto is in one of Canada’s southernmost points, right on the border with the USA – Boston and New York lie to the south east, Detroit to the south west and Montreal and Ottowa to the north east. Summers are warm, with temperatures straying into the 30s in July and August, while in the cold winters it can get down to -10.

Top tip: Visit Niagara Falls in winter – it’s less crowded, and the outer edges of the falls are frozen solid.
