Belfast is the capital of Northern Ireland and is the largest and most populated city in the North of the country. The city is a buzz of activity and much of the city and the riverside are being redeveloped. The city is a great place to go for a weekend break.
Things to do and see:
- Day Trip – Take a day trip to view and walk over the 80 foot drop which is covered by The Carrick-A-Rede Rope Bridge and experience superb views of Scotland.
- History – View some of the history of Belfast for free by dropping by The Belfast Cathedral. The Cathedral is home to wonderful mosaics, sculptures and stained glass; you can listen to the Cathedral Choir on Sundays between 11am and 3.30pm.
- Family Fun – Take the whole family along to The Ulster Museum which has wonderful displays of archaeology, ethnography, art, history and natural sciences. There is also a whole section dedicated to the Treasures of the Armada.
- Shopping – Belfast is a fantastic place for shopping, check out the Fortside Shopping Centre open till late every night or visit Castle Court Shopping Centre, the largest shopping complex in Northern Ireland.
Getting there: Belfast International Airport is located about 20 minutes away from the city centre. The airport is serviced by an excellent bus service and a taxi into the city costs around £25.00
