Devon is located in the West of the UK and has a beautiful coastline. It is a great place for a British beach holiday and is also a wonderful spot for sight seeing, exploring culture and would be great for a family trip.
Things to do and see:
- Dartmoor National Park – Covering over 368 square miles, Dartmoor National Park is the largest area of open countryside in the UK. There are archaeological sites to visit as well as rare and endangered species to spot.
- The Jurassic Coast – The Jurassic Coast is a World Heritage site which covering 95 miles and is home to Jurassic, Triassic and Cretaceous cliffs spanning 180 years of history.
- Buckfast Abbey – One of the only working monasteries in Britain today, the Abbey is open and very welcoming to tourists. As well as learning of the history of the Abbey and taking in the spectacular architecture, you can purchase speciality honey, beeswax and wine.
- Visit – One of the small villages in Devon such as Lynmouth to capture local life and experience beautiful and unspoilt scenery.
Getting there: Devon is serviced by Exeter International Airport which is in the heart of Devon. It is serviced by buses and taxis.
Location and weather: Devon is located in the West of the UK and has some of the warmest weather in the country. There is no need to visit just in the summer however as spring comes early and winters are reasonably mild.
Top tip: Whilst in Devon, don’t forget to drink some cider – a regional speciality. |
