Cheap flights to Rome

Not the cheapest of Italy’s cities, Rome offers so much variety in terms of history, culture and entertainment that its high prices can easily be overlooked. The sunny but cold winters mean that cheaper accommodation can be found and the sights can still be enjoyed with equal pleasure.

Things to see and do:
-The Vatican-Although crowds make this a bustling and busy place to visit, Vatican City is one experience that will complete your trip to Rome. The Vatican museums give endless amounts of viewing and are a great accompaniment to a visit to the Sistine Chapel if you do not want to feel overwhelmed by all there is to see.
-Theatres-Rome plays host to many theatres, many of which hold a wide variety of shows covering all aspects of the arts. Dance and opera are particularly popular and many of the theatres are worthy of appreciation in terms of their architecture.
-Coffee-For the Italians and particularly in Rome, coffee is part of the lifestyle and therefore a great way for any tourist to feel at one with the city. Serving multiple varieties of the drink, a caffeine fix in this city is much more authentic than the typical instant drinks usually found at home!

Getting there: There are two airports serving the city, the ‘Leonardo di Vinci’ and the ‘Ciampino’, the former generally being used more for international flights. There is a direct train from this airport into the city centre, about 26km away and taking approximately an hour.

Location and weather: Like a lot of Italy, a mild climate is prominent in Rome. Warm summers and cooler winters are the general trend, though July and August see temperatures soar meaning that many businesses close.

Top tip: Beware of the ever-increasing groups of pick-pockets and beggars, particularly as the Italian police appear to have very little interest in helping foreigners.
