Dublin is the capital of Ireland and has everything you could wish for a wonderful city break. Dublin is perfect for a romantic weekend away, a group holiday with friends or a trip for all the family and has a real eclectic mix of tastes and cultures.
Things to do and see:
- Family Day Out – Take the family to Dublina and Viking world, an interactive museum perfect for kids and adults alike, denoting the history of Ireland and Dublin. The museum offers audio-visual entertainment, artefacts, interactive displays and reconstructions.
- Temple Bar – Temple Bar is the hottest place to be in Dublin, home to the youth of the city, it is a host of trendy shops, sizzling nightspots and wonderful restaurants and cafés.
- Historical Sites – Malahide Castle is a beautifully regenerated property which is well work a visit. Located within the Castle you will also find The Fry Model Railway, The Talbot Gardens and Tara’s Place one of the world’s greatest dolls houses.
- Culture – Dublin has had many famous authors and literary greats living or working within it and to honour them the Dublin Writers Museum was opened. You can also visit the birthplace of Shaw, a famous playwright and see the place where he was born.
Getting there: Dublin Airport is located around 6 miles North of the city centre, and regular buses are operated by Dublin Bus and Aircoach linking the two. Taxi’s are also available and cost on average €15 to the city.
Location and weather: Dublin is located in the East of Ireland and has a temperate climate which is cold and damp. The best time to visit is between May and September when it is warmest.
Top tip: You cannot visit Dublin without trying the national drink – head down to The Guinness Storehouse for a pint of the black stuff.
