Prague is the capital of The Czech Republic and becomes an ever more popular tourist destination every year. There is a lot to do in the city yet it has become popular as a weekend retreat, it is perfect for your city break.
Things to do and see:
- Prague Castle – Thought to be the largest castle in the world, it covers over 7 hectares and so there is a lot to see. The castle was founded in 880 and so is a great place to learn of the history of the town.
- Cruise – A great way to see the city is to take a river cruise on the Vltava. There are many options including a 3 hour cruise with music and a buffet. There are often tour guides on board to answer an questions you may have.
- Museum – Take a trip to the National Museum in which there are displays of zoology, palaeontology and anthropology along with collections of rocks and minerals.
- Charles Bridge – A gothic looking piece of architecture fundamental to the transport links of Prague. The bridge is popular with street artists and also hosts live entertainment.
Getting there: Prague International Airport is located just outside of the city itself. The airport is serviced by a shuttle coach as well as two regular bus services and taxis which will take you to your destination.
Location and weather: Prague has a cold climate with harsh winters and much snow, summers are often wet. The best time to visit is between May and September.
